| A Lowestoft pickle dish Circa 1765-70, A fine Lowestoft pickle dish of scallop shell shape, fully painted
in blue with a full- blown peony spray, a scroll and flower border,
the handle with a lattice design, this small Suffolk factory started
production about 1747 and ended around 1799, producing soft-paste porcelains
with bone-ash; for the first ten years decoration was confined to underglaze
blue painted wares, usually in chinoiserie patterns, output was mainly
utilitarian wares and mainly catering for the local markets. Lowestoft
porcelain is now becoming highly sought after by collectors world wide

A good Bow mug Circa 1755, Bell-shaped grooved looped handle decorated with an imari pattern of
flowering prunus sprays and hollow rocks in an underglazed blue, red enamel
and gold, a diaper border around the rim reserved with flowerheads, Bow
factory Circa 1748-74 the production output was high producing a large
variety of wares from decorative items such as figures, to utilitarian
tableware mainly painted in underglazed blue decoration, the porcelain

A Worcester polychrome teabowl, Circa 1770-75, Painted with a 'mandarin' and companion seated before a window, reverse with a woman and child, flanked by two vignettes of birds perched on branches within scroll cartouches upon a cell pattern ground. The oriental decorations of landscapes gradually started giving way to more formal Chinese patterns, many were inspired from Chinese export or 'mandarin' porcelain, it may also be possible that these very fine painted wares may have been made as a replacements for damaged Chinese export wares. A Worcester Dessert Plate, Circa 1765-70, Of scalloped shape, decorated in the workshop of James Giles,with a large colourful flower spray and smaller sprigs, the rims gilt, 20.7cms diam. James Giles (1718-1780) was a decorator of Worcester, Derby, Bow and Chelsea porcelain and also glass, who created gilt and enamelled objects such as decanters, drinking-glasses, perfume bottles and rosewater sprinklers, for a rococo and neoclassical market. Producing work similar to the enamelling done by the later Ralph and William Beilby of Newcastle-upon-Tyne, he maintained a showroom in fashionable Cockspur Street in London, enjoying the patronage of royalty and affluent clients including Clive of India, the Duke of Northumberland, Princess Amelia (the second daughter of George II), Thomas Pitt, the Duke of Marlborough, the painter George Stubbs and Horace Walpole. A finely painted Hadley Ewer, painted with blackberries, leaves and flowers, with guilding to the handle top and base. James Hadley and son had a porcelain factory in Worcester between 1896-1905, producing fine quality porcelain in competition with the Royal Worcester Porcelain factory. Hadley items are rare, due to the fact that the factory was open for a short period of time. Painters mark number 4, attributes work to Jenny Lander.
